Limoges Camille THARAUD Vanity/Jewelry Porcelain Box with three cherubs angels

  

This is French Limoges CAMILLE THARAUD porcelain box decorated with three cherubs, and stands gracefully on four feet. Made using the pâte-sur-pâte technique which gives translucent & third dimension effect. The box and lid are surrounded by a golden frieze.

Measures 6 1/2''(16 cm) Long X 4''(10 cm) Tall. Excellent Vintage Condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Stamped "France Limoges Made in France Tharaud Limoges France". Tharaud's technique was to glaze an unfired surface, then paint on another glaze with colored oxides and fire at 1410°C, first in a reducing atmosphere to improve the color of the body, then in a fully oxidizing atmosphere to bring out colors of the glaze. Became noted for use of high temperature colors.

At the Paris Art Deco exhibition in 1925 Tharaud showed designs by M. Goupy using high temperature decorations. He also decorated many shapes created by H.
