Authentic Limoges Box France Peint Main La Gloriette Speckled Trout
Authentic Limoges box from the La Gloriette Company of France, of a speckled trout. It is one of the most handsome fish Limoges boxes I've ever seen - so realistic! The hand-painted details on this box are just outstanding! The fish is painted in high detail, while the rushing stream and rocks underneath are purposely blurred, the artist having given it a real feel of rushing water. The trout's body is slightly curved, and his tail flipped, giving it a feeling of movement also.
The interior features a sprig of a water plant. The clasp is a fish. It measures 3 1/2" in length, 1 1/4" in width, and just under 2 1/4 in height. It is in excellent condition.
