A beautiful small egg-shaped hand painted porcelain trinket box from Limoges France. The box has hinged lid with the hinge equipped with a flattened center to serve as a stopper for the box's lid when opened. The box is in the shape of an egg wrapped with a pink ribbon having gold-colored highlights.
The ribbon has a bow on toppy of the lid that is in the shape of a flower with large pink petals. The box is made of porcelain and is white in color with the pink bow and gold dotted highlights giving the box a very nice appearance.
This very colorful box has a hinged lid. Both top and bottom of the box are fitted with brass rings having a hinge on the back and a locking thumb piece in the form of a bow attached to the front of the top portion.
The box has a oval base on which is sits. The inside of the box is white with delicate pink ribbon decoration on both halves. The base is marked as to the origin and maker of the box written in beautiful black cursive calligraphy underglaze on the white background. The box appears to be signed "Carllot" in gold lettering as shown in the 8th photo. This is a very nice piece from Limoges France to add to your collection of small trinket boxes. Origin: Made in Limoges France. Size: The box is 2 3/8" by 1 5//8" and is 1 1/2 high to the top of the egg. This box weighs slightly less than an ounce. Maker: Chamart (Charles Martine) of Limoges France. Marks: Marked on the bottom of the box in beautiful black cursive calligraphy "Chamart Limoges France; Paint Main". There is also the signature "Carllot" in gold lettering in the bottom left of the top of the box as you look at the thumb piece. Condition: The box is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. The box is generally clean and the lid closes well and tightly. There some soiling along the foot of the base which can be seen in the 6th and 7th photos.
