A perfume bottle made in the Limoges area of France around the mid to late 19th century. It is made of enamel on silver and is of stunning quality! The lid has a little hand painted scene of a music booklet with a flute under it and some roses with the main body hand painted with a superb polychrome scene of a young lady with a lamb in front of a tree and a boy holding a trinket in his hand looking a little shy hiding behind the tree. The girl looks to be wearing Dutch wooden shoes and a white hat with the boy also dressed nicely.
The rest of the scene has a nice landscape to it and a church in the background. I assume this would have been a token of affection for a special lady. The mounts are nicely decorated silver with a tiny hallmark to it I cannot make out. An amazing piece of the highest quality! The perfume is in great condition with the original glass stopper and the lid closes perfectly. The inside neck of the piece looks to have had a little repair to the glass lining but it is hard to tell. The bottle is 3 inches tall with a diameter of 1.25 inches. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like KPM , Sevres and so on.
