Today we are happy to offer for sale a lovely vintage Limoges oval Beatrix Potter-style bunny porcelain trinket box! Limoges porcelain is hard-paste porcelain produced by factories in and around the city of Limoges, France beginning in the late 18th century.
By about 1830 Limoges, which was close to the areas where suitable clay was found, had replaced Paris as the main center for private porcelain factories. Limoges has maintained this position to the present day. This fabulous oval-shaped box features a lovely hand-painted scene of a cute bunny rabbit wearing a yellow shirt and red overalls, stading outside near a tall pink tree.
The scene is painted in the manner of Beatrix Potter. The piece is marked "Peint Main Limoges France" Box presents beautifully and is in very good vintage condition, with very minimal display wear and no chips or cracks. This fabulous box will make a beautiful addition to any fine Limoges trinket box collection.. Dimensions: 3-1/2" in length, 2-3/8" in depth, 7/8 in height.
