See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil. This is a beautiful Limoges Peint Main box from France.

Depicted are The Three Wise Monkeys-- Hearing (Kikazanru), Speaking (Iwazaru) and Seeing (Mizaru). They tell us that we should not see, hear or speak evil--truly good wisdom. And, they are wonderfully crafted and painted on this box. Size: 2 1/2" wide, 3" tall. Clasp: Monkey looking in a mirror.

Artist Signature: on back of Box (NU). Saying: (French) Rien Vu, Rienn Entendu, RienDit. The monkeys are sitting on a grey log--the box is green with foliage like a jungle. The Clasp opens to reveal the wise saying.

The back of the box shows the monkeys tails, and the back of their arms as they hide their eyes, ears, and mouth. Box is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or paint fading. The clasp is tight and the metal work is excellent. A very detailed artistic creation. I also have other Limoges Peint Main boxes.... So ask questions before purchasing.
